About the event

The Golden Glass is a lively gastronomic and educational event featuring national and international wines complemented by culinary delights from the Bay Area’s top restaurants and artisan producers.

Golden Glass is the annual fundraiser for Slow Food San Francisco. Proceeds will benefit key Slow Food San Francisco initiatives, including the School Gardens Initiative and Slow Food USA’s Ark of Taste program.

Celebrate the efforts of over 100 wine producers who strive to protect, nurture, and revive the indigenous and classic varieties of their regions. Slow Food will select the wineries based on their philosophy and their respect for the environment in collaboration with local wine importers. The wineries will be clustered in national areas throughout the pavilion to help attendees taste and learn about the regional and terroir nuances directly from the winemakers and proprietors themselves.

To showcase the creative culinary talents of so many of our Bay Area chefs, the Slow Food Plaza will pay homage to the open food tasting markets of Europe. We expect to have more than three-dozen purveyors providing sample-size plates of their signature dishes, charcuterie, cheese, olive oil, seasonal fruit, breads, pastries, and gelato for attendees to savor throughout the afternoon.

Slow Food is an idea, a way of living and a way of eating. It is a global, grassroots movement with thousands of members around the world that links the pleasure of food with a commitment to community and the environment.

GOOD, CLEAN & FAIR

Good: The word good can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. For Slow Food, the idea of good means enjoying delicious food created with care from healthy plants and animals. The pleasures of good food can also help to build community and celebrate culture and regional diversity.

Clean: When we talk about clean food, we are talking about nutritious food that is as good for the planet as it is for our bodies. It is grown and harvested with methods that have a positive impact on our local ecosystems and promote biodiversity.

Fair: We believe that food is a universal right. Food that is fair should be accessible to all, regardless of income, and produced by people who are treated with dignity and justly compensated for their labor.
